Boho Bonnet

Let's welcome the week with some grey nails. Blue-grey that is.

Meet Orly's Boho Bonnet.

The color is very enticing. It has character and out of ordinary, never boring. I consider this my perfect shade of grey much like Cupcake is my favorite shade of pink.

Cupcake

I have always been vocal on my love for cupcakes. Last week, this love has spilled over to my toenails and finger nails.

I found my perfect, pink polish.

Orly's Cupcake.

I always love anything delicate and this shade has that perfect balance of sweetness, class and subtlety. It is blush pink with hints of lavender. It doesn't come out too saccharine sweet, very unobtrusive and would complement any skin tone. It comes out washed out in this photo but up close, it's really pretty. Until I find the next perfect, pink shade, Cupcake it shall be.

Catch the Bouquet

I am in search of the perfect pink polish. I will attend a wedding this weekend and thought that pink nails would be the best way to go. So on my last trip to the salon, I tried this.

Orly's Catch the Bouquet.

I am not a fan of metallic nail polish - if the shade doesn't suit your skin tone, it will come out tacky. In this case, the shade of pink is soft and very feminine. This is the best shade of pink I've tried so far. The sheen renders texture to the otherwise flat color.

My verdict: I want to try this sweet shade sans metallic sheen. It comes out nice on most angles, though personal preference, I am still not keen on metallic polish.

Down Right Red

You know it's the season of festivities, parties and weddings. Case in point, in a span of 10 days, I am attending at least 4 parties and it's always good that your nails are ready to strut their stuff. So, I decided to paint my toe nails in festive red.

Orly's Down Right Red

It was a toss up between neutral brown and soft pink hues but I decided to rock red nails because it is generally a flexible color that goes well with any footwear and outfit.

It's a very lively shade of red, perfect for the Christmas season. It reminds me of cherry tomatoes. This might be a tricky shade to wear and may work best for fairer skin. I love it and I'll choose this again if I am in the mood for bright red nails.

Coffee Break

My nail polish for the next two weeks.

Orly's coffee break.

A contrast to my Pentel pen blue polish last month. Back to my usual neutral shade, I can say the color brings out the healthy glow on warm skin tones. This is the closest to nude yet not quite shade on my skin.

Hence, this will be a go-to shade. Next time, I'll try Coco Beach, two shades darker. I think it will work if I want a dainty, brown polish.

Chocoholic

Who can resist chocolate?

I can't. If only I can have bars and bars in a day without piling the pounds, I would! I do take a piece or 2 a day because... I can't resist chocolates. In my last trip to the salon, I thought hard on the color to paint my toe nails with. It's been 3 weeks since I had my nails cleaned and more than 2 months since I had them painted. Then this bottle caught my attention...

Lovely shade of deep brown, reminds me of rich milk chocolate. Chocolate toes might help curb my chocolate craving.

If you like dark shades, this is a good choice. It's not the typical black and matches with most colors of footwear. It also makes my feet fairer. I have been wearing the polish for a week now and it hasn't chipped nor showed signs of wear.

This will be my top choice when I am in the mood for dark color.

Candy Cane Lane

I am having a quiet evening with my blood red polish. With my preferred date out for work, I decided to get a manicure and pedicure and topped it off with a trip to the waxing salon.

Nothing like fresh polish and hair-free body to welcome the weekend. Light bounces better without fine hair, giving a shinier look - at least for the legs. And I find satisfaction with every hair stripped and groomed.

This shade of red comes out nicely on my warm skin tone. It brightens my skin. It's a far cry from my typical good girl shade.

Wicked enough but with a hint of modesty.

Just how I feel right now.

Pure Porcelain

In my last trip to the nail salon, I was in the mood to paint my nails in neutral, creamy shade I usually prefer. I contemplated among my favorite Bonbon, everyone's favorite Country Club Khaki and Pure Porcelain.

Since I haven't tried this shade yet, I opted for Pure Porcelain.

After application, it came out white and provided a good contrast to my brown skin color. The manicurist put three coats and I find it too thick. Two coats would have been sufficient.

After a few days, it started to turn baby pink. This is best for fair-skinned and dark individuals. I am medium-toned and it comes out like a clerical white-out. White is not for me, although I like its creamy, smooth texture.
