PhP 300 Story

With PhP 300, I filled my pail with 10 dozens of roses.

'Cause that's how I roll, baby. I need 120 roses in my bathroom.

Just kidding.

Seriously, I went on a Dangwa trip with Mama. These roses will fly to Dipolog tomorrow.

Not to be outdone, I spared PhP 120 and scattered them all over my place.

Two dozens on my coffee table

A dozen in my broken drinking glass

Half a dozen in my used olive oil bottle

And another half a dozen in my used balsamic vinegar bottle

These bunches are not the best of quality but they're prettier in real life and the stalks are enough to make me happy, especially in the morning.

I am excited to wake up tomorrow.

A Very Lavender Evening

Take a look at this interesting dessert I had after dinner.

Canelle, from Lemuria. French custard cake flavored with French vanilla and cardamom. What makes it memorable is the ice cream topping. It's not ube, my dears.

It's lavender ice cream!

Think 7 deg C ice cream and refreshing lavender bursting in your mouth with each spoonful. It's so good that our table of four ordered additional scoops. The restaurant was gracious enough to serve ice cream even if it's not on the menu.

It's always good to ask.

I never knew that lavender has culinary uses. In the Mediterranean region, its nectar is harvested and marketed worldwide as premium honey. The floral and slightly sweet flavor makes it popular for baked goods and desserts, blended with teas and lavender syrup is used to make scones and marshmallows. That would be very interesting.

To continue my lavender spree, I dropped by Dangwa and bought a bunch of lavender-colored heads on my way home.

Only a few things make me giddy more than flower shopping in Dangwa at 12 midnight! To explain the rather unusual phenomenon, the only time I drop by Dangwa is when Person A takes me home from Caloocan (where he lives) via the Caloocan-Manila-Makati route. And that usually happens close to midnight.

Lastly, I am about to curl up in bed lathered in lavender lotion. After the lavender spree, nothing more fitting to end the night than using lavender products for a relaxing sleep.

I am having a very lavender evening, indeed.

One Hundred Fifty Pesos

For this amount, I was able to fill four vases with Peruvian Lilies (Alstroemerias) and Baby's Breath!

I spent the entire afternoon cleaning my place and thought that a bunch of fresh flowers would be the icing on the cake. I had hydrangeas in mind but there were none available. I scouted for gerberas, carnations and paper roses but 4 dozens of those will set me back by PhP 500 (way cheaper than getting it elsewhere) so I settled for something inexpensive.

Roses are sold at PhP 35/dozen but not my thing tonight. I once bought 8 dozens of those to adorn my studio unit. My place smelled heavenly.

So fresh from Dangwa at PhP 150 only:

By the coffee table

And on my sink

Yep, that's toothbrush, 2 bottles of olive oil, wine, beers and all.

The Peruvian Lilies cost PhP 55/bundle (I bought 2) while the baby's breath costs PhP 80/bundle (I got 1/2). It is best to head to Dangwa at night when the prices drop.
