"I was born poor, but poor was not born in me.
And it shouldn't be born in you either.
You can make it."
Manuel Velez Pangilinan.

He first studied in San Beda and rode the G-Liner bus home. Then he went to Ateneo and got a scholarship at Wharton. Started as an Executive Assistant at Phinma Corporation, joined Bancom, then went to American Express where Anthoni Salim was a customer. Then Mr. Salim and MVP built First Pacific Company Limited after Traders Bank refused the partnership offer of Indonesia's Salim Group.
And the rest, as they say, is history.
The story of MVP, the man who went to Hong Kong with 4 suits and 2 pairs of shoes. Now, he has more than 200 pairs of shoes and lives in an apartment building at The Peak which has a monthly rental equivalent to PhP 1.3 million.
